You can often get a suitable transcript from your school. If this is not the case, you will need official translations along with verified copies of the original. Overview
The degree programme provides graduates with a strong foundation in theory and methods of language and its universal aspects as well as in specific description of different linguistic systems with a synchronic and diachronic approach. Graduates in Linguistics have studied various techniques of linguistic analysis and have acquired a perspective that combines a formal approach with a detailed description of facts. The courses units and educational opportunities on offer include a wide range of fundamental disciplines of linguistic research, starting from basic course units such as phonetics and phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics and pragmatics, up to applied disciplines such as dialectology, historical linguistics and language acquisition, computational linguistics. Moreover, students may create ad hoc educational paths according to their interests in linguistics-related areas; they may also acquire skills in neuropsychology, logic and philosophy of language and instrumental knowledge of statistics among other disciplines.
Career opportunities
Graduates can perform tasks involving specialistic skills in language education area and in publishing and communication sectors; they can also fill professional high-responsibility positions within cooperation and international institutions or in public administration services aimed at intercultural communication. Other relevant employment opportunities may arise in IT applications for communication area (setting up of archives, databases, linguistic consultancy in creating and managing websites, automatic translation, etc.). They may work as consultants or in the research and re-education areas (speech therapy, audiology, neurolinguistics, speech re-education). Graduates in Linguistics may also consider a career as teachers in schools, upon obtaining their teaching qualification and successfully participating in calls for teaching, pursuant the current regulations. Finally, they can continue their studies for further scientific training and research.
The degree programme allows the accumulation of educational credits to access course units for teaching.
