Overview
The programme has a dual objective: to provide those who study with a comprehensive familiarity with the historical processes from the ancient to the contemporary world; to teach the methods, language and tools of historiographic work. In addition to speculative study, the course includes seminars and practical exercises expedient to the analysis of historical documentation, to the use and critical analysis of sources, to the census, management and enhancement of the bibliographic and archival heritage. Particular attention is also paid to the history of the territory and cultural peculiarities of non-European civilizations.
Through internships in libraries and public and private archives, students can moreover acquire training experience to be expended in the labour market. Finally, the course provides the opportunity to acquire significant basic skills in philosophical and literary disciplines

Career opportunities
The Bachelor’s degree in History provides basic skills and knowledge which – in order to find an adequate professional outlet in the labour market and in the research field – must be enriched and completed by attending a Master’s degree programme.
However, the programme provides skills and knowledge that can be employed in some work sectors: publishing, libraries, private and public archives, cultural institutes and institutions dealing with territorial enhancement and cultural mediation. Those who graduate in History will be able to acquire in specific scientific-disciplinary sectors a good number of credits that could be used – after obtaining the master’s degree – to participate in the tests for admission to the teachers’ training courses for secondary education.
