Overview
The Bachelor’s degree provides in-depth training in both the physical/mathematical fundamentals and in the disciplines characterising information engineering: control systems, electronics, telecommunications and computer science. The educational objectives are distinguished by a methodological and multidisciplinary training approach which enables to acquire skills in information and communication technologies (ICT) based on a solid physical/mathematical background.
At first, the programme offers fundamental and cross-cutting theoretical course units. As students progress, specialising courses, including high-tech equipped laboratory units, can be chosen within a large list, to create personal, focalised or broad-spectrum training.
Programme structure
1st Year: Calculus 1, Foundations of Computer Science, Linear Algebra, Physics 1, Digital systems
2nd Year: Data Structures and Algorithms, Physics 2, Calculus 2, Electric Circuit, Introduction to Machine Learning, Probability Theory, Signals and Systems
3rd Year
Compulsory course units: Control systems, Electronics, Telecommunications.
Course units to be chosen by the student:
List 1 – Algorithms for Engineering, Information Transmission Media (at least 1);
List 2 – Systems and Models, Internet, Digital Signal Processing, Microcontrollers and DSP (at least 2);
List 3 – Computer Engineering Laboratory, Internet and Multimedia Laboratory, Signals and Measurement Laboratory, Bioengineering Laboratory, Control Systems Laboratory, Microelectronics Laboratory, Optics and Photonics Laboratory (up to 3).
Career opportunities
This Bachelor’s degree grants access to all Master’s degree programmes in the area of ICT, in Italy and abroad. Four Master’s degrees (Computer Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Electronic Engineering, ICT for Internet and Multimedia) are also offered, in English, by the same Department. As well, graduates can find professional employment in all areas of ICT, in enterprises or in the public sector.
