Overview

The degree programme offers basic humanistic teachings in the literary, historical, and sociological fields, as well as core subjects in the field of visual arts, cinema and audiovisual, photography, music, radio, theater, and television. All studies aim to promote an in-depth historical and critical understanding of the topics. The educational program is completed by a structured selection of in-class courses and specific laboratories, aimed at individualizing students’ training concerning the occupational fields of their choice. The degree course trains professional figures who are experts in the field of humanities with competent IT and technological skills, equipped with historical-critical knowledge and an articulated theoretical-practical background in the fields above. This profile is further supported by the mastery of new technologies in the field of arts and performance, and the ability to write and speak one of the languages of the European Union (English, French, German, or Spanish). Furthermore, students will acquire good argumentative and communicative skills.

Career opportunities

Those who obtain a degree in DAMS will be qualified to work in a variety of environments and institutions in the cultural industry. These may be of public or private nature, or in private practice. The selection of the occupational sector will depend on personal aptitudes following and developed out of the teachings and laboratory activities chosen during coursework.
The degree course provides training for the following professional figures:
-assistants in the design and production of cultural projects in the fields of arts, cinema and audiovisual, photography, music, theater, and multimedia. This figure operates in the design and realization of events, dealing with various phases of preparation, design, and execution involved in event production (with private and public production entities, organizations, and event distribution, including tourism; in artistic and cinematic institutions, opera houses, theater, and musical agencies, archives and museums; in cultural festivals, and public and private television and radio). Graduates collaborate in producing documentation and research in preparation for events in question, collecting bibliographic resources, and iconographic and multimedia contributions. They assist in the creation, set-up, and installment of multimedia products;
- cultural-didactic workers in the fields of arts, cinema and audiovisual, photography, music, theater, and multimedia. Graduates work alongside others in the conception and creation of educational, cultural projects to enhance knowledge of expressive languages related to the sectors in question. They work to develop projects to sensitive and educate the public to art, performance, and various media cultures. They carry out activities in the didactic areas of museums, film libraries, as well as in cultural institutions and associations in the field and with authorities and businesses engaged in promoting tourism; in addition, they collaborate with schools and communities to organize laboratory activities;
-editorial collaborators promoting dissemination in the fields of arts, cinema and audiovisual, photography, music, theater, and multimedia. This professional figure provides content for the cultural industry (press offices in cultural, performance, and tourism institutions for the field in question). They work in the editorial sector (publishing field in question, newspapers, and specialized journals and magazines, including the area of multimedia) as well as on television, radio, and other media.
